Markenizer has been established in 1998 by Marieke Westgeest, previously working under the name Westgeest Creativity Protection.Markenizer is an efficiently organized law firm with clients of size. That is because Markenizer works on a high intellectual level, which attracts clients with complex cases. However, also companies with a small trademark- and design portfolio are welcome at Markenizer and can profit from this expertise.

The attorneys of Markenizer have professional scales: An attorney of Markenizer is educated internal and external and is expected to follow the BMM professional education. BMM stands for Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Attorneys (BMM). An attorney is only allowed to call himself a BMM trademark attorney if the attorney has followed the 3 year training as prescribed. The training consists of a period of a year in which the candidate has a 1 day training per week and where he has to make tests on a regular basis. At the end of this period an examination follows. If the candidate passes the examination and has worked under responsibility of an experienced attorney for the period of 3 years the candidate may call himself a BMM trademark and design attorney.

Also after the BMM training Markenizer invests in his employees by conveying legal knowledge in the field of intellectual property (mainly trademark law, design law and copyright law). Within Markenizer it is also considered important to frequently visit conferences and update knowledge by internal and external seminars. Markenizer attorneys are encouraged to give presentations in order to disseminate their knowledge.
